What Is a Resident Score?

A Resident Score is a number included in a Tenant Screening report that helps landlords understand an applicant's credit history and financial responsibility. Landlords use it as one factor when deciding whether to approve a rental application.

The score ranges from 350 to 850 and is based on information such as:

  • Payment history
  • Credit history
  • Credit utilization (how much available credit is being used)
  • Available credit
  • Recent credit inquiries

Unlike a traditional credit score, a Resident Score is designed specifically for rental decisions and places greater emphasis on credit behaviors that are associated with paying rent on time.

What Do Resident Score Ranges Mean?

  1. 350-559: Poor
  2. 560 to 659: Fair

  3. 660 to 724: Good

  4. 725 to 759: Very Good

  5. 760 to 850: Excellent

A Resident Score is one part of the Tenant Screening report that landlords may use when evaluating rental applications. A higher score generally reflects stronger credit habits, but each landlord decides what information to consider when making a rental decision.
