The plan covers accidental damage caused by a tenant during their stay.
Damage Protection Plans Cover:
- Contents, like furniture, appliances, and fixtures
- Walls, floors, ceilings, and windows
- Pet damage on pet-friendly listings
- Pet damage is covered only if your listing is marked as pet-friendly. If pets aren’t allowed, pet-related damage isn’t eligible.
- Bed bug remediation, up to your plan limit
- Host liability if a tenant is injured on your property
Coverage is based on replacement cost, not depreciated value. That means claims are evaluated based on what it would cost to repair or replace the item today.
Examples of covered damage:
- A hole in drywall caused by a tenant
- A carpet stain from spilled wine
- A cracked window accidentally broken during a stay
- Scratches or stains caused by pets on approved pet-friendly listings
Damage Protection Plans Do Not Cover:
- Normal wear and tear
- Intentional damage
- Missing items without a police report
- Damage that occurred before coverage began
- Claims without a signed lease
- Linens such as sheets, towels, and washcloths
- Early lease termination costs
Wear and tear refers to gradual deterioration from normal use, such as faded paint or worn carpet over time.
If you are unsure whether damage is eligible, you can still file a claim. Each claim is reviewed individually.
