Furnished Finder connects travelers to landlords offering monthly furnished housing. Because we are not a booking platform, we do not own the properties, set listing policies, or approve reservations. While we understand that some travelers rely on service animals for medical or emotional support, decisions about whether to accept a booking ultimately rest with each individual landlord.
We encourage both landlords and travelers to understand and comply with Fair Housing laws and any applicable local regulations. However, Furnished Finder cannot enforce these laws, guarantee acceptance based on the presence of a service animal, or provide legal advice or interpretation on behalf of either party.
What Travelers Should Know
If you travel with a service animal or emotional support animal (ESA), we recommend the following:
- Use filters to narrow your search: Select listings that indicate pets are allowed, as these landlords are already accustomed to hosting animals within their property.
- Contact landlords directly: Before submitting a booking request, message the landlord to explain that you travel with a service animal.
- Clarify that your animal is not a pet: Service animals are legally distinct from pets, though landlords may still have questions. Depending on local laws, Emotional Support Animals can also fall into this distinction.
- Be prepared to discuss documentation: Some landlords may ask for reasonable verification of your need for the animal, particularly with emotional support animals. Be sure to check your local regulations to learn which documentation landlords are allowed to require.
- Consult with local Fair Housing resources: Housing laws can vary by state or municipality. We recommend speaking with a Fair Housing agency or attorney in your area if you have concerns or questions.
